Just left his "tournament", complete joke from start to finish. Didn't start on time, the supposed "score keeper" messed up every event because he couldn't add simple numbers, they changed the rules at their discretion, they had 10 year olds competing against 13 year olds. I contacted the organizer Perry Culver 5 days before the event to ask about the rules and sparring equipment, was assured my sons gear was acceptable and that there were no punches allowed to the face, but moments before was told he had to borrow other gear and punches to the face were allowed. Mr Culver even back tracked on everything we discussed. Will never attend another event sponsored by this joke.

I'd appreciate people to keep an open mind when reading these reviews. Culver's are obviously been the object of a smear campaign. They teach Traditional Shotokan Karate, Ju Jitsu and effective self defense. Shihan Culver has over 33 yrs of training many certifications and have earned a 7th a 6th and a 2nd degree black belts. Super pages should clean up their act. Take time and check everyone out. .

Just because you actually have to WORK to obtain a belt at Culver Karate Club, doesn't mean it's a substandard school. I too have visited other schools in the area and none of them have the same family friendly environment, quality instruction, or ample training area that CKC has. Pretty much any other dojo in this area is a quick promotion school where you'll get a black belt in a year and not learn anything. CKC has produced numerous national champions as well. No one should really be complaining about the excellent cost you have to pay in order to train there because when you compare it to the training you're getting, the price should be much higher.

I have read the other comments and I respect peoples opinions. I do however believe that these comments do not really show what Culver Karate is all about. First thing that I didn't understand was the comment about the quality of instruction, because I strongly feel that national and state champions in martial arts must come from quality martial arts schools. I also don't see the downside to allowing kids to have some fun once in while. The belt that somebody EARNS is based on their own performance. The more effort people put into karate determines their belt rank. You can be taught karate, but YOU MUST LEARN IT. I have trained at other schools in the area one of them was a garage with a cement floor, one was a little bigger than a closet, and others. At Culver Karate Club I train in a heated building with padded mats on the floor, TWO HUGE training areas, and other things that make it a quality place to train. Culver Karate Club isn't expensive at all for what the students receive.
