I was very happy with the visit. They were very nice and knowledgeable. They treated us respectfully as well as treated the dog with care. Very nice and will definately go again. It is a first come first serve basis, so be there a little before 8 or wait till around 11 or so. The wait was still only about 25 minutes. I got there at 815 and was 7th to see the doctor. Not bad. Cost minimal. Thank you again Herschel Animal Clinic.

Took my dog to Herschel Animal Clinic because her normal vet is closed on Wednesdays.
Went in for a basic examine/treatment for dog pink eye and was informed they wouldn't even look at her if I didn't have her rabies shots records with me. I even asked what they would do if she was just hit by a car and was in life/death circumstances and they stated 'there was nothing they could do' without the records.
1. The place I'd get the records from was closed - thus the reason I was there.
2. She's a 10 month old puppy and she has her city rabies tag on her collar - she wouldn't have the tag if she didn't have her shots and, at her age, it would be impossible for her to be due for another shot.
3. Another vet saw her just fine later today (WITHOUT the rabies records) and gave her terrific treatment.
It's obvious that animal care is not their number one concern. I should have read these reviews before even wasting my time this morning. Thank god it wasn't a time sensitive emergency. These people are horrible - never again.

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE!
I rescued a little kitten on Christmas from a vending machine and in last attempts to save him decided to stop at this clinic before going to Animal Care and Protective Services. Clerk at desk told me the visit would be $47 with shots given. I asked how long the wait was and he said a matter of 10-15 mins max. We got in quickly. I had also informed the clerk that I couldn't afford much since I was unemployed. That being said the vet, Dr. Plant with (I assume a tech) came into the room, didn't say one word to me. Pulled the kitten out and started jabbing him without saying anything to me. Then drew small amount of blood for testing, without informing testing was going to be done and that would be charged to me as well. Left me in the room without saying anything but that they needed to check something. Left me waiting again without saying anything for another 10 minutes and then returned saying he was negative for the testing they performed. Then, proceeded to pull the kitten out again and weigh him and grab out some meds of some sort and said under their breath to me .035 ml while handing the meds to me. I then being a concerned animal lover asked about what was tested and how many eye drops needed to be given and how many times a day. It was obvious they could careless about this kitten which is highly upsetting to me. Left the room and went to the pay counter to be told the total was $45. Handed over my credit card for processing which clerk proceeded to tell me that no shots were given and then about a minute later when another customer was asking a question to me, the clerk proceeded to tell me the total was actually $60. What was I supposed to do then? They are just about getting their money. Could careless about the animals and owners or concerned animal lovers who just want to do good. I will be sure to report this also to whoever else will listen. Please take my advice and don't take your animals here. I will NOT be returning ever again!

This 2nd time I have brought a cat to the clinic and I hope they haven't killed him like they did my first pet. After a 2 hour wait stressing out my pet, I was finally able to just sign in and after anther hour of wait I was able to see the vet. My cat had an abscess and while the vet shaved and cleaned the wound, the service stopped there. I was given antibiotic pills, which stresses out the animal if your able to get them to swallow it and he was given a rabies shot, which is not recommended for sick animals. I was told to apply a salve directly on my cat's eye, which is another stressful feat for both me and my cat. If they actually cared about the animal's health, they would of gave him an antibiotic injection and at least applied some salve so I could see the best possible procedure for administering it. My animal is now sicker and more stressed out than before we visited these butchers. I previously had a cat with a urinary tract infection and she died 2 days after being treated there or should I say mistreated. No antibiotic shot was given, just pills thrown at me and told to take care of it. I thought maybe my first pet was too ill to be saved, but after doing research, I have come to believe it is their total disregard for my pet's health that led to her death and may cause the death of my other pet.

The prices have gone up but they are still very affordable. The only thing I hate about this clinic is the lack of information available online on prices and services. It is 2011. Create a website Herschel!
Here is the info I have on the clinic based on the services I have had on my dog:
Doctor exam: $15-$25. Dog full annual vaccinations: $45. Nail Trim: $10. Worm check: $10. Heart worm check: $20. Health Certificate: $50. Microchip: $25. Feline Lyk test: $30. Teeth Cleaning: 100+ (they also do teeth extractions), Heatguard medication (for small dog): $25
My neighbor has had tumors removed from her dog several times.
Get there before 8AM or around 1PM. They have a sign in sheet now and give you an number based on what number you are on the sheet. If you arrive early you will not have to wait more than an hour. If you have not gone there before, make sure you bring proof of vaccinations.
Also, if you have an emergency situation and your animal is in severe pain, do not bring your pet to Herschel because you will have to wait. They will give your animal priority and move it to the top of the list, but you will probably still have to wait.
Vet julie looked after our pups today she is wonderful she played and laughed . SHE TOOK THE TIME TO ANSWER ALL MY QUESTIONS AND MORE. The clinic and the staff are wonderful and loving . I RECOMMED TO ALL AND IM VERY PICKY WITH THE ONES I LOVE. The pet lovers i met today u are some great people. This clinic has not changed. My roxy and kayla are two lucky pups to have Vet julie and the staff. luv chelle Roxy and Kayla
Friends at work insisted this was the place to go for Pet care, which is impressed me, as we live in Georgia!
At their insistence, I made the first trip when our cat was a baby. Now he is grown, and we have been going back every since.
The price is outstanding, the service is professional, caring, and quick. The only possible drawback is that you must get there early if you do not want to stay there all day. The word is out and the crowd grows each time I visit them. So get there early, at least an hour before they open, and secure your place in line.
The wait, and the drive, is worth it.
i love this clinic went today for a well puppy visit for Kayla and Roxy. The people were great we bonded with all peeps and animals. The wait was long but didnt mind. The staff excellent they loved and cared for my babes and they took the time to answer all my questions. wasnt rushed out the door. love love will recommend to all. Chelle and Roxy and Kayla
When friends at work told me about this place I thought they were daft. We live in Georgia after all, and that is an hour's drive.
At their insistence, i made the trip when our cat was a baby. He is now a healthy, happy, and goofy adult, and we have been taking him there every since.
The staff is professional and quick, and the Doctor is caring and knowledgeable. Further, the price cannot be beat, and we will continue to use the clinic forever.
To heck with the hour drive.
Best Vet Ever it is worth the wait for the price.

For everything such as shots or if my dog is feeling sick they are great. I had him neutered 2 days ago. The stitching job was awful. He still had pieces of his skin sticking out of the stitches. I brought him home hoping it was just swollen. I checked the next day and he began bleeding from the area they did not seal. I tried calling Herschel Clinic, the gentlemen told me I need to take him somewhere as that is not normal but not to the Clinic b/c they close in 20 minutes and just won't have time today.
Like I said, for everything else they have been great and inexpensive, I just wish I would have taken my dog somewhere else for the neutering.
worst vet ever.had to have pet put down because of incorrect diagnosis. not thorough doesn't take time to find out what's really wrong. doesn't deserve any stars. will never take a pet there
I take both my dogs here for all their shots and basic meds (heartguard, flea, etc). The prices are great! BUT because of the number of pets they get in per day, and the short amount of time they are actually examining your pet, I recommend finding another vet to take your animals to for any problem visits or surgeries. For me, it is peace of mind knowing that something won't be overlooked or rushed. I can say that having 2 vets has worked out wonderfully for me. Save money on the basics but don't skimp when it counts.

This is a great place for your animals. When you want medical care for your pets in Jacksonville for a low cost without the ""fluff"", Herschel is the place to go. They charge a quarter of the price for the same service provided at other clinics. I'll drive clear across town to take advantage of this
