The Escalante Community Center is a more than 30,000-square-foot facility that includes an education room, fitness area, gymnasium and swimming pool, and youth and senior centers, . It offers a variety of educational and recreational programs to toddlers, youths, teenagers and senior citizens. It organizes summer day camps that offer several structured programs, including art and craft making, sports, computer instruction, cooking and swimming for youths between the ages of 5 and 13. The center offers a range of programs for youths and teenagers, such as spelling bee competitions, parachute activities, playground games, puzzle finder, storytelling, fitness classes, field trips, football, soccer, golf and karaoke. Its parent workshop provides information on several children-related topics, including literacy, skills development, nutrition, safety concerns, abuse prevention and discipline. The Escalante Community Center is located in Tempe, Ariz., and is governed by the city government.
